Two souls united by stardust

We have the same kind of stardust in our souls, read the welcome sign at Destinee and Michael’s magical Halloween wedding. The couple got married in Detroit, Michigan at the majestic Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church, one of the oldest Catholic churches in downtown Detroit. They both felt it was important to incorporate details into their wedding that truly reflected their personalities, so their wedding was filled with edgy, off-beat, and boho vibes. We shot their couples photos in the Eastern Market District in Detroit, the location of their reception, and had tons of fun playing around with colorful smoke bombs while exploring the unique space. One of my favorite moments with them was standing out in the street of the Eastern Market and they screamed together, “We’re married!” It was a really fun and cute moment that has us all laughing and smiling.

Celestial details

Destinee looked incredible in a mermaid style dress by Watters, featuring a plunging neckline with layers of lace and appliqué, giving it stunning texture. She wore an elegant gold celestial headband across her hair and a custom, cathedral length, white-to-navy blue ombre veil —one of my favorite elements of her wardrobe. To keep warm in the evening, she wore a cropped, white denim jacket with black block lettering across the back that read: “Stardust Souls” to match their theme. I loved that detail!

Destinee owns Florista Spells, an elopement, wedding, and event floral business, based in Leadville, Colorado. With her inside knowledge of the wedding industry, she had a specific vision that brought their wedding day to life. Studio Terrain did an amazing job filling the floral elements of the day, with gorgeous textures and colors that perfectly complemented their theme. In fact, their entire day was sprinkled with elements of magic.

A night filled with magic

An amazing finishing touch to Destinee’s attire that night was her witch hat that she wore on the dance floor that was jamming all night! Many guests even changed into Halloween costumes to rock on the dance floor. This wedding certainly made Halloween an extra special night and we are grateful to have been able to spend it with them!

Destinee and Michael found us via Fearless Photographers, a wedding photographer director that connects high-end artistic photographers with couples looking for an awesome wedding photography experience.
