Lake Michigan Beach Engagement Session - St. Joseph, MI
“But these are the days we dream about, when the sunlight paints us gold.”
When planning your engagement session, I always encourage couples to select a location that has some type of meaning for them (even if they haven’t physically been there before). In this case, Alex and Anika chose a location where they had gone on dates throughout college. On the golden shores of Lake Michigan we met them for their end of summer engagement session.
One of the last weekends warm enough to feel summer in the air found us at Tiscornia Park in St. Joseph, Michigan. The park boasts some gorgeous beaches, a pier, a lighthouse, and a stunning dune type setting. Anika’s flowing blue dress was the perfect compliment to the blue waters and soft pinks of the sunset, and Alex kept it simple with a neutral white shirt and brown pants which was the perfect blend to accent her beautiful dress and the natural surroundings of the beach.
Even though we only spent a quick hour with the two of them, we were really able to bring out some beautiful intimate moments between the two of them to capture some magical, emotional moments. We had the most beautiful golden sunset, and ended the night with the two of them sharing a snuggle in the tall beach grasses watching the sun go down beyond the lighthouse.
Love on the shores of Lake Michigan
Anika is from Northern Indiana and Alex is from Northern California. They met in their Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Andrews University. They are both physical therapists now and love that they share that passion. Both of their love languages are quality time, so some of their favorite things to do together are workout, play tennis, watch TV shows, and go out to eat Mexican food. Coffee dates were a staple in their dating life while they were in grad school as well. One of the most important things they want to remember leading up to their wedding, and on their special day, is the comfort they feel committing their love to each other and the support they have from everyone involved in their lives.
They were unfortunately a couple that was effected by coronavirus restrictions earlier this spring, but their reschedule date will be just as beautiful and possibly even more meaningful. We can’t wait to see the two of them again at their wedding at the Baker Lofts in Holland, MI this August.
